Since racing 2 weeks ago, I have been in recovery mode and had the opportunity to head to the Lake Logan Triathlon Festival in Canton, NC to volunteer, support, and cheer people racing in a half iron distance race on Saturday and then people racing the next day in either a sprint or international distance race. On Saturday I was lucky enough to get to help people completing their 1.2 mile swim get out of the water. What an amazing experience and to see the look of pure joy for many athletes completing a swim of that distance!! Then on Sunday, I had an another amazing opportunity to be one of the kayakers on the water assisting athletes in the swim portion of the international and sprint triathlon race. the
When you have the chance, take some time and give back to the support! It makes you a better athlete to understand what the volunteers are going through during the day. You as an athlete also make a perfect volunteer because you are an athlete and understand what the athletes are going through.
