Over the past several weeks I have read some things that disturb me not only as an athlete, but also as a coach, friend, and woman. I have read that although some women have accomplished finishing races such as Ironman, they still do not see themselves as an athlete. I have to wonder why this is? Why wouldn't you want to be considered as an athlete...after all you are an ATHLETE!! Matter of fact, it doesn't take finishing an Ironman to be considered an athlete! If you workout several times a week, regardless of workout, you are an ATHLETE!! Maybe you go for walks, maybe you practice yoga, maybe you can only practice a stretch routine at this time because of an injury- regardless, you are an ATHLETE!! Be proud of what you can do and what your body is capable of! Do NOT focus on it's limitations, but focus on it's capabilities!! We are all different and unique, but we are all ATHLETES!! Don't let anyone take that away from you!
STAY FIERCE AND STAY FOCUSED!!
